Scrap-a-Doodle Stamping

Good by for a while

To all my friends who have been following my posts here: My life has really been fairly turned upside down in 2010. A number of things have been chaotic, not all bad, but still stressful. Hopefully, they are starting to improve. I know that God has a plan and I just have to wait on Him to reveal it to me.

Right now, I find that I simply do not have the time to keep up a daily or even bi-weekly blog. I am trying to streamline my life but I don't know how long that will take. I thank you for checking in on my ideas & the things I've tried to share with you. Maybe at some time in the future, I will be able to do this again, but I don't know when that will be. I pray that you life will be wonderful and that you will know the continuing love of Jesus Christ our Savior.

The Battle is already Won

These will make war with the Lamb and the Lamb will overcome them for He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings and those with Him are called, chosen and faithful. Rev. 17:14

The outcome of the war is already determined. We have nothing to fear because the Lamb who is King of Kings WILL overcome and defeat those who make war with Him. We can rejoice because we know the outcome. We know how it will turn out! Praise God!

My sweet son-in-law is back in Iraq for his second tour. He left a couple of weeks ago and is now in Baghdad. He is a chaplain and he sees this as his ministry. I know that I don't have to worry about him because he is among the "called, chosen and faithful." We love you, Matthew. (the army calls him Larry)

Stencil It On

  Stencils can be used for almost anything! This card is made with Stampin' Up!s new decor stencils called Folk Flowers (#118139). This page is from the current Occasions mini catalog. You can see that the stencil is much larger than just the part that I used. Here's how I did it.

I used regular scotch tape to cover up the pieces that I didn't want painted. I put tape on both sides so that it wouldn't stick to my cardstock. Then I used some acrylic paints and a stiff bristle stipple brush.   Just pull the stencil up and you have your design. When I was finished, the paint washed off the stencil easily in the sink.

To finish this card off, I put glue dots on the back of a leaf from the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt (#117266) and a button from SU! Playground (#116313) Designer Buttons.

You can use these stencils to paint on walls, furniture, fabric, whatever you have. It's so easy!

Cell phone usage

You might have seen this before. A friend emailed it to me. I just wanted to share it today.

 

In God's word he states,

like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

 What if we flipped through it several time a day?

 What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

 What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

 What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

 What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?

 What if we used it when we traveled?

 What if we used it in case of emergency?

 Is this something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing.

Unlike our cell  phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being

disconnected because Jesus already paid the  bill.

Makes you stop and think 'where are my priorities? And no dropped calls!

When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of you!

 

A Quick Tip and a Sad Confession

Quick Tip: Have trouble writing in a straight line with your journaling? It's a simple trick. Use a pencil and ruler to lightly draw lines on your journal box or paper. Write your journaling and then go back and erase the pencil lines with an art gum eraser.

Things don't seem to be slowing down any time soon. I've posted to my blog every day since I started it almost a year ago. I've tried to put card ideas, scrapbook pages and tips and ideas on here for anyone to use. I am going to have to slow down on my posting. I just don't have the time to do it every day. I plan on trying to have a post on here at least 3 days a week, possibly, Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Perhaps, later on in the year I'll be able to pick it back up to a daily post. For now, I'm hoping I can get the 3 days a week and give you some quality ideas. Please check back often.

Behind on My Life

OMG! I think I'm running behind on my life! It seems like I'm trying to catch up with everything at once. My life needs to slow down & take a breather for a few minutes. I'm sorry that I don't have a card or layout to share with you today. Between catching up from being sick, helping with the groom's side of a wedding, learning new ways to cook AND eat, doing volunteer work and sending birthday cards to 16-20 people every month, I just haven't had time! I am so sorry. I will try to catch up and have something posted here for you tomorrow. Thanks for understanding.

Heros All

Like many scrapbookers are, I'm terribly behind in my scrapbooking! This layout has pictures from Dec. 2008 when my son-in-law returned from his tour in Iraq. Now he's already back there for a second tour. My idea for this lo which I titled "Heros All" is that there are many kinds of heros. Certainly, our military men & women are all heros, no matter where they are serving but those that they have left behind are heros too. For the 15 months that my s-i-l was over there, my dear daughter had to function as a single mom for their 3 children. She is a hero, imo, for the sacrifices that she makes so that her husband can do his job. The kids also are heros because they have to spend that time without their daddy to guide them.  
  For this page, I used So Saffron cardstock for the background, Always Artichoke for the matting and title and Mellow Moss for the journaling box. I ran the Hero (#116229) Jumbo Wheel in Real Red for the bottom border. The ribbon is Old Olive 1/2" striped grosgrain (#113883) ribbon. I punched the arrows from Always Artichoke cardstock using the My Way (#110709) punch. To finish out the look, I used Star Designer Brads (#112572) on the corners of the journaling box.

Obviously, I'm proud of my family members who serve our great nation. I hope that all Americans will take time to say thank you that next time you see a military person. I'm very glad that for my s-i-ls current deployment my daughter & my grandchildren are only 30 miles away from home.
